Dawn's Novel in Progress

If you are looking at this page, you have probably been invited to look at my current work in progress.  If I haven't invited you via email, livejournal or in person, please go away and read no further.  This is a private site created only for my friend and family.

Please read (and abide by) the following:

  1. All work here is copyright of Dawn Atkins. Original copyright for the story and characters is 1974.  Text shown here is copyright 2004. Do not reproduce anywhere without permission of the author.
  2. This work contains graphic violence and explicit sexual content.  If this bothers you, don't read it.
  3. This is a "work in progress" -- meaning it is a rough draft.  I will be revising as I go.  While I may add to and change chapters as I feel inspired, there will also most likely be at least one major rewrite when the novel is complete.  If you have typos, suggestions or questions, you may email me.
  4. I am dyslexic.  So that means you will find numerous typos including misspellings, missing words, duplicate words and so on.  I don't mind people sending me corrections. But when a work is in progress, the most important part for me is to focus on content not spelling.  When I am finished, I would love the assistance of volunteer editors.  Let me know if you would like to volunteer.
  5. This is a work of fiction.  While characters will have aspects, they aren't any specific people I know.  Besides, most of these characters predate nearly everyone I know! (Anyone under thirty wasn't even born yet when the major characters were created.)
  6. If you must make any type of print-out of this work or save the file, please shred and/or delete the copy after reading.  I really don't want old drafts of my work all over the place.
  7. The names of characters in this work are complicated and I am still working on perfecting the spelling to reflect the names I hear in my head.  In the meantime, I may spell the same character's name different ways until I figure it out.  When I get a handle on it, I will include a list of character names, pronunciations and language information.
  8. You will need Adobe Acrobat to read the files.  You can get it free of the internet.
  9. Please send me feedback. For me at least, the point of letting people read the work in progress is to get an idea of how I am doing. Please let me know what you think of what you are reading.  Did you have a favorite part or line? What do you think of the characters? Their world?  Do you have questions?  Are there parts you would like expanded?  Please let me know.
