As the Sun Rises

Rabbits Flying and Going North

August 31, 2000

Dear Family and Friends,

Well, things are going very well here at the Rabbit Warren. Lon flew out and brought Rowan back on Tuesday. Rowan is as loving, bright and amazing as ever.

We have lots of adventures planned while he is here, along with the usual good stuff. Like right now he is playing "Snails Pace" -- a board game -- with Daddy Troy. I built up a tower from the marble track and we have had many hours of fun watching marbles go wizzing around. Willow and Rowan adore each other. I was worried that he would be too rough with her, but he is very good. And she likes him so much she follows him around and pounces on him. Both are growing fast. Rowan has grown almost an inch since his last visit. Willow has doubled in size since last week.

Troy's job hunt is still going but very promising. He has had a several very good interviews this week and expects at least two job offers within the next few days. Not a minute too soon either. We are broke and behind in the bills. We hadn't anticipated it would take him two months to find work. But things should improve a lot once his paychecks arrive. We look forward not only catching up, but hopefully paying down some debts -- starting with our lawyer.

The Wicca Wagon is changing form again. We have a personalized license plate that reads "WICA WGN" on our Dodge Caravan. (First the blue one, then we traded in for the maroon.) Now the lease is up on the van. We have arranged to buy a white 1989 Volvo Station Wagon and a black 1991 Honda Civic. They are both in pretty good shape and from reliable folk. We are already driving them and will be paying them off over the next couple months. We will be transferring our special tags to the Volvo. This way we will have two vehicles instead of one. And we will both own them and not have to keep up the heavy payments. We intend to earmark the money that use to go for the lease for our legal bills.

Lon is doing well in school as usual. He is just finishing this quarter and will be on break until the first of October. He will be taking two classes and, hopefully, starting an internship.

My work is backup as ever. I have had to do a lot of work behind the scenes here to keep us afloat during the negative income of the last two months. I do have a lot in progress but haven't been able to finish a lot yet. On the plosive side, I am teaching again. I have a human evolution class at the Harvey Milk Institute in Oct., several workshops and I will once again begin magical teaching. (Anyone local who is interested should contact me.)

Lon's mom, Teri, is coming to visit in a couple weeks. We are very much looking forward to seeing her. We haven't seen her in a year and half. (Since we visited her in Kentucky.) We will be having a party for her and taking her sight seeing.

This weekend we are flying up to Seattle to visit Craig and Susan who bought a ranch at the base of the mountains. Rowan is very excited and we are all looking forward to it. We leave Friday morning and return Monday night. Luckily, a good friend has volunteered to cat sit for us. (Especially with Willow still being so young.) The other wonderful news is that we will get to see our old friend Micheal Frantz. After years of looking for him, we are finally back in contact. Craig found him for us. So this should be a wonderful weekend in a great month. Sigh. I had really forgotten what it felt like to be happy most of the time. It is a miracle.

Hope to see you all soon. Please let us know how you are doing.

Love,
Dawn
